Jacqueline B.“Jackie” Porter

Longtime Delta, Colorado resident, Jackie Porter, passed away on Thursday, May 30, 2019 at her residence. She was 89 years of age.
A graveside funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, June 8, 2019 at the Delta City Cemetery in Delta.
Jacqueline Jean Bryan was born on March 16, 1930 to Harvey L. and Bessie Isabelle (Galpin) Bryan in Paonia, Colorado where she spent the first 7 years of her life. The family then moved to Denver for a short time before moving to Gunnison. Jackie graduated from Gunnison High School.
After graduation, she attended Western State College in Gunnison.
On August 26, 1950, Jackie married Dr. Robert Ralph Porter, D.V.M. in Raton, New Mexico. To this union, three children were born. They lived in Fort Collins, Colorado before settling in Delta in 1957.
Jackie served many years on the Delta County Memorial Hospital Board of Directors and was a member of PEO, Chapter B K and Garnet Chapter #39 Order of Eastern Star. She enjoyed traveling, playing cards, gardening and worrying. She loved animals. Jackie’s greatest enjoyment was her grandchildren.
Jackie is survived by her loving children: son, Scott (Susan) Porter of Rio Rancho, New Mexico; son, Doug (Rebecca) Porter of Delta; and daughter, Lisa (Tom) Turnipseed of Yukon, Oklahoma; a brother-in-law, Jack Porter of Cedaredge; a sister-in-law, Polly Spann of Gunnison; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her parents, husband, and sister, Kay Harmon.
