Karen M. Wetherington
October 14, 1960 ~ July 4, 2019
Delta resident, Karen M. Wetherington passed away suddenly Thursday, July 4, 2019 at her home in Delta, Colorado. She was 58 years old.
A private family service will be held at a later date.
Karen Michelle Edwards was born October 14, 1960 to Archie C. and Myra J. Edwards in Pensacola, Florida. She spent her childhood and attended schools in Florida, graduating from Choctawhatchee High School with the class of 1978.
On July 3, 1986 Karen married the love of her life, Robert C. Wetherington in Fort Walton Beach, Florida. The couple just celebrated their 33 wedding anniversary. Before moving to Colorado to be closer to Guy and his family in 2016, she and Robert lived in Florida for over thirty years.
Karen worked for Allstate as a teacher for 27 years. Before an agent became licensed and got their own office, the last step they had to complete was her week long class. On the weekends she enjoyed gardening and sunbathing as often as she could it seemed. As she grew older, Karen seemed to transition more into sewing, crocheting, and even creating and painting decorative items that were set up inside and outside the house, but most of all she cherished time with her family especially her grandchildren. Before moving and even after getting settled in Delta, Karen and Robert would sit outside in their rocking chairs drinking coffee and talking, or not talking and just being next to one another as the sun rose or set every day.
Karen is survived by her husband of 33 years, Robert Wetherington; son, Guy Wetherington and wife Jessica; two daughters, Lisa Skeate and husband Scott, and Brittany Wetherington; three grandchildren, Christian Reese, Guy Wetherington IV, and Jenna Wetherington.
Karen was preceded in death by her parents.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Taylor Funeral Service and Crematory.
