Longtime Cedaredge, Colorado resident, Roger Burke Lowry, passed away on Saturday, September 21, 2019 at his residence. He was 79 years of age.
Viewing will be held from 9:00 a.m. until 9:50 a.m., Saturday, September 28, 2019 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Cedaredge Ward. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. with interment following in Cedaredge Cemetery.
Roger was born on March 10, 1940 to S. Allen & Erma (Jewkes) Lowry in Castle Dale, Utah. He spent his youth in Yuba City, CA and Layton, Utah graduating from Davis High School in 1958. He obtained his Bachelors degree from Weber State College and pursued graduate studies in Wildlife Management at Utah State University.
Roger worked for the Colorado Division of Wildlife in multiple locations around the state, retiring in Cedaredge after 34 years of service. He was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was dedicated to serving others. Roger was a competitive shooter, winning national championships in both pistol and shotgun. He enjoyed working in the garden/orchard, refereeing High School basketball, and hunting and camping, especially at family reunions.
Roger is survived by his six children: daughter, Susan (Jerry) Floyd of Durant, OK; son, Obe (Jeanene) Lowry of Mink Creek, ID; son, Jeremy Lowry of Clinton, Utah; daughter, Audra Frew, also of Clinton; daughter, Amanda Thurston of Roundup, MT; and son, Roger “Burke” (Rachel) Lowry Jr. of Delta; his son-in-law, Matt Clark of League City, TX; his brother, Steven Lowry of Cedar City, UT; eighteen grandchildren and one great-grandchild on the way.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter, Jodie Clark and three brothers: Paul, Bert and John Lowry.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Taylor Funeral Service and Crematory.
