On Tuesday, September 10, area residents will again have the opportunity to see nearly 100 spectacular cars at the Ellen Hanson Smith Teen Center in Paonia, where they will have their lunch stop between 11 am and 1 pm hosted by the Ute Trails Car Club.
This is the 31st Anniversary of the Colorado Grand which is an annual charity event, a tour for pre-1960 sports and race cars of distinction. Many of the cars are one of a kind! Each September during the fall color season covering 1,000 miles. It is truly an international event as this year approximately 20% of the entrants are coming from other countries with their cars.
Since 1989 the Grand has donated nearly $7 million to more than 40 small Colorado charities and communities. Paonia has received several of thee grants: After a fire burned the North Fork Ambulance Services garage in Paonia, Colorado, Grand donations helped rebuild it; The Paradise Theater received $10,000 from the Grand to update its projection system to show digital films; Paonia Town Park received a donation to purchase playground equipment; The new sports field at Paonia High School was a recipient; and each time the Grand is here, a local High School Senior has received a college scholarship, this year it will be $8,500 for a lucky senior!
Spectators are invited to see the cars and meet their owners that day. Come out and enjoy this amazing site! Check out their website for more information, co1000.com.
